Late Summer - Autumn

As usual, there will be 2 joint excursions with the Clyde and Argyll Fungus Group (CAFG) this year. The following dates are provisional and may be adjusted in response to fungus fruiting and weather. Confirmation of dates and full details of meeting points etc, will be confirmed by email nearer the time.

Sun 8th: Balloch Country Park [Complete]

Sat 21st 11:00-15:00, The Necropolis (Glasgow), fungi
Meeting place: Main gates (behind St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Life and Art, adjacent to Glasgow Cathedral)
DIrections: Access by public transport: Information at https://www.glasgownecropolis.org/location/.
Queen Street Station, Buchanan Bus Station and Buchanan Street Subway station are all about 1 mile from the gates and High Street Station is nearer at just over a quarter of a mile - on the Helensburgh-Airdrie-Edinburgh line
Leader: Neill Simpson
Bring: Warm and waterproof clothing; sturdy boots or wellies; and the usual field mycology kit (hand lens, knife, collecting box or basket, field guide, notebook & pen, camera).
Provisions: Bring your own, or use one of many local shops.

The CAFG programme retains a degree of flexibility to respond to the whims of the fungus world. There is also the possibility we might include galls and autumn invertebrates in these meetings with the expert help of Paul Cobb. This aspect often overlaps with fungal associations and would be an interesting addition to our records.
