Blodwen Lloyd Binns Prize

The Blodwen Lloyd Binns prize is awarded for papers published in The Glasgow Naturalist. The subject area is the natural history of Scotland.

The intention of the prize is to encourage work by younger scientists - “younger” in the sense of new to scientific writing. Submitted work should therefore be amongst the first three papers the writer has submitted for publication.

Articles will be judged on the quality of science (including the methodology and new data generated), the originality of the natural history observations, and the quality and organization of the writing. While full papers are more likely to reach an award standard, short notes that contain more than purely descriptive information will also be taken into consideration. The prize may not be awarded in any year if no suitable paper or short note can be identified. Prizewinners are presented with the BLB prize at the annual BLB Seminar held at the University of Glasgow.
